Job Hunting

First, it is important not to job hunt too early. This has resulted in a number of students who have a job, but yet do not finish their degree, sometimes with negative consequences once their company learns that they don't have the degree they promised.

A good rule of thumb is that until you actually have a good portion of your thesis written, it is too early. It is usually possibly to keep your TA or RA position for a quarter after you are about done with your thesis. This will give you much more flexibility in finding a job, and also give you more of a chance to work on publishing your work in journals/conferences.

For technical jobs, there are numerous on-line job sites. If there is a particular industry you are interested in, try googling the companies in that industry and directly looking on their web sites. In addition the following site has been useful to other grads:
